- Post-Treatment Evaluation: After the whitening is complete, the dentist will record the post-treatment tooth color and determine how many shades your teeth have lightened.
Results: You may notice some initial loss of whiteness a few days after the procedure as your teeth rehydrate.
Take-Home Teeth Whitening
- Procedure: Take-home teeth whitening involves using custom-made trays and a lower-concentration whitening gel. The trays are created based on impressions of your teeth to ensure a comfortable and secure fit.
- Duration: This treatment is performed at home and can last for two to four weeks.
Process & Results:
- Impressions: The dentist will take impressions of your teeth to create custom whitening trays.
- Tray Delivery: Once the trays are ready, they will be provided to you along with a recommended peroxide whitening gel.
- Application at Home: You will apply the whitening gel to the trays and wear them for a specified amount of time each day, usually two to four hours.
Results: You should notice whiter teeth within the first two weeks, and the overall treatment can last for up to four weeks.
Both in-office and take-home teeth whitening methods are effective in reducing teeth staining and discoloration. The choice between the two depends on various factors, including your dental health, the extent of whitening desired, and any time constraints.
It's important to note that not all types of teeth discoloration can be effectively treated with teeth whitening. For example, stains caused by a root canal or discoloration of crowns, veneers, or bonded teeth may not respond to whitening treatments.
